SPOILERS2013 Scientific Committee > Monique Zagorec (Oniris)
Monique Zagorec obtained her PhD degree in molecular genetics at the University Paris 6 (1986) and her Habilitation diploma at the University Paris 7 (1997). Her PhD thesis, prepared at Jacques Monod Institute in Paris, focused on heme biosynthesis by Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
After two post doc stays (3 years at AgroparisTech, Thiverval-Grignon and 2 years at the University of Amsterdam) devoted to the carbon catabolite repression mechanism in Bacillus subtilis and one (9 months) at Aventis, on antibiotic production by Steptomyces she joined INRA in Jouy en Josas in 1992. Since then, she studied the adaptation of Lactobacillus sakei to the meat products and was the director of the laboratory “Flore Lactique et Environnement Carné” from 2002 to 2009.
She recently moved to Nantes (Oniris) for investigating food microbial ecosystems, mainly those potentially contaminated with the food-borne pathogen Campylobacter.
Her research evolved from genetics to genomics and omics in general, in the food microbiology field.
