Danilo Ercolini got his PhD in Food Science and Technology at the University of Naples Federico in 2003. PhD thesis entitled: “Novel molecular techniques for the evaluation of microbial diversity occurring in dairy products”.
He was granted a Mari Curie Fellowship from the EU at the University of Nottingham, UK, Division of Food Science, School of Biosciences. He was Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Naples Federico II from November 2002 to December 2011. He is Associate Professor in Microbiology at the University of Naples Federico II from December 2011.
He is author of more than 60 papers in international journals in the field of food microbiology.
He is in the Editorial Board of Applied and Environmental Microbiology, International Journal of Food Microbiology, Food Microbiology and Journal of Food Protection.
He Edited a Book entitled “of “Molecular techniques in the microbial ecology of fermented foods” published by Springer.
He is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Food Microbiology.
The overall scientific activity dealt so far with the development and exploitation of novel molecular biology techniques for the microbiological typing of food products and for a rapid and reliable detection of microbes in food.
